Tavares Public Library’s Books and Blooms Wildflower Festival on Saturday, August 9.  Registration is only needed for the 10 a.m. Wildflower Arrangement class. All other events are open seating/viewing. 

Wildflower Arrangement Class 

10 a.m.

Join Professional florist Shannanne Cain for a hands-on workshop and learn how to design a stunning wildflower arrangement. All supplies are provided. This class is designed for adults aged 18 and up. Registration is required. To sign up, please contact the Tavares Public Library at library@tavaresfl.gov or call (352) 742-6204. Spaces are limited. 

Wildflower Gardening Essentials

2 p.m.

Explore the beauty and benefits of wildflower gardening in this beginner-friendly class. Whether you want to attract pollinators, reduce lawn maintenance, or simply enjoy a vibrant, natural landscape, this class will cover all the essentials. This class is designed for adults and is open to gardeners of all skill levels. Class led by UF/IFAS Lake County.

Seeds of Knowledge Library Demonstration Garden

Self-guided visits from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Visit the Tavares Public Library’s Seeds of Knowledge Library Demonstration Garden to explore the beauty and diversity of Florida's native wildflowers. This vibrant garden is funded by the Florida Wildflower Foundation and thoughtfully designed and maintained by UF/IFAS Lake County Master Gardeners. The Tavares Public Library is one of six Florida public libraries to be awarded the Florida Wildflower Foundation’s Seeds of Knowledge Library Demonstration Garden grant. The garden was planted in spring 2025.

Emma Sears Marsh Watercolor Exhibit with Lake and Hills Garden Club

10 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Learn about Emma Sears Marsh (1871-1960) and her wildflower paintings. Representatives from the Lake and Hills Garden Club will be on hand to answer questions about Emma and her historical floral watercolors.
